Juice recipe: Pear and spinach wake-up!

Every afternoon at the retreat we have a “wake-up” juice, to freshen up after one activity and as a pick-me-up mid-afternoon before the next afternoon activity. We love this simple pear and spinach juice.

Juice recipe: Pear and spinach wake-up!


1 pear
1 handful of large leaf spinach


Simply rinse the ingredients in cold water, making sure all the soil or grit is removed from the stems of the spinach and place all of the ingredients in your juicer. We suggest cutting the pear in half, and putting the spinach in between the two pieces of pears, to help it go through your juicer more smoothly (like making a pear-spinach-pear sandwich)!

Here in Spain we can buy large spinach leaves (still with the roots on) as well as the small tender leaves that you might commonly find in bags on the supermarket shelves or fridges. The large leaves are great for juicing and can be used in a centrifugal (or masticating) juicer. If you only have small spinach leaves, it is better to use a masticating juicer or you can juice the pear and add the juice and the small spinach leaves to a blender and blitz for 20-30 seconds. Amazingly refreshing and tasty!
